Sgt. Angelo Russo of the 66 Precinct was off-duty and in his neighborhood bank in Brooklyn when the manager informed him that the bank was being robbed at that very moment. Because there were so many customers inside, Sgt Russo did not immediately draw his firearm. Instead he followed the suspect outside, flagged down a passing patrol car, and pursued the robber who had fled with an accomplice in a getaway vehicle. The suspects were arrested without incident a few blocks away.
