On May 7, 2004, Sgt. Ray Singletary and another officer from the 69 Precinct were responding to a location where a woman had just been stabbed to death, when they noticed a suspicious man walking away from the scene. As they approached the suspect, who was wearing a bloodied sweatshirt, he reached for a knife in his waistband. Acting quickly, the officers grabbed the suspect and placed him under arrest without any further injuries being incurred.
